Using Your Own Click and Cue Sounds

Bands' built-in Click & Cues uses stock sounds — use stem uploads or a custom Ableton template when you need your own samples.

Pliris™ can generate Click & Cues for you, but those use stock sounds. If you need your click sample or your cue blips, you have two paths.

Path 1 — Upload them as stems (any plan)

  1. Render your click and/or cue audio as regular audio files.
  2. Upload them onto the arrangement like any other stem.
  3. Leave them unmuted when you rehearse or export.

This works on every plan, including Free. You hear your exact sounds in the app. They play as normal audio tracks — they are not wired into the smart cue / click system (no automatic cue list behavior from those files alone).

Path 2 — Custom Ableton template (paid + account admin)

  1. Build your samples into a custom Ableton template (Foundations + your AI cues player, or your own rack).
  2. Have an account admin upload it and select it under Account settings → Ableton template (band admins and manage-access members can export with whatever template is set, but they can't open Account settings to change it).
  3. Export arrangements so the show leaves with your sounds baked in.

Custom templates also need the custom templates capability on a paid plan — Free can't upload proprietary .als / .zip templates. Full steps: How to Choose an Ableton Template.

Which should you pick?

  • Need your sounds in rehearsal inside Pliris today → Path 1.
  • Need your sounds in the Ableton show file every export → Path 2 (or Path 1 stems included in export, depending on template).

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own click sound in Pliris?

Not in the built-in Click & Cues generator (that uses stock sounds) — upload your click as a regular stem on any plan, or bake it into a custom Ableton template on a paid plan with custom templates.

Will uploaded click stems trigger the smart cue system?

No — stem uploads play as normal audio. They aren't wired into the automatic click/cue list behavior; use them for rehearsal sound or include them in export depending on your template.

Do I need a paid plan for custom click and cue samples?

Stem uploads work on Free. Custom Ableton templates that embed your samples need a paid plan with custom templates and an account admin to upload/select the template under Account settings.

Can a band admin upload a custom template themselves?

Not unless they're also an account admin — template changes live under Account settings, which is account-admin only. Ask your account admin to switch the template, then export as usual.
