Creating Your First Band
Add your first band, set its name and profile image, and understand what a band actually holds — the front door to everything in Pliris.
Your band is the front door. It's the container for everything else in Pliris™ — songs, arrangements, stems, setlists, and members. Nothing happens until you've got one, so let's create it.
What a band is
A band is your workspace. Every song you add, every arrangement you build, every setlist you run for a show lives inside a band. If you work with more than one artist, you'll give each their own band to keep catalogs clean and separate.
- Free tier: one band.
- Paid: unlimited bands.
If you're a touring engineer or MD juggling multiple artists, unlimited bands is the reason to upgrade.
Create your band
- Head to your Bands page from the top navigation.
- Add a new band and give it a name — the artist or project name works best.
- Create it. That's the container done.
Your band now exists and is ready for songs. But before you fill it up, take thirty seconds to set it up properly.
Set the name and profile image
Your band profile is the first thing your team sees. A clear name and a real image keep your workspace organized and make it easy for members to spot the right project at a glance.
- Open your band page from the top navigation.
- Click the settings icon next to your band name.
- Click the image placeholder to upload a profile image — a logo or artist photo is ideal.
- Edit the band name in the settings panel if you need to change it.
- Save your changes.
Pro tip: Use a distinctive image per band. Once you're managing several artists, the profile image is the fastest way to tell them apart on the Bands page.
Invite your team (optional)
A band isn't just yours — it's your whole crew's. From your band settings you can invite bandmates, techs, and managers by email and set exactly what each person can do: view only, download files, create setlists, manage arrangements, edit songs, or manage members. Account admins always have full access.
You don't have to do this now. You can invite people any time from the Members section in band settings.
Frequently asked questions
Can I manage more than one band with a single Pliris account?
On the free tier you get one band; paid accounts get unlimited bands. If you're a touring engineer or MD juggling multiple artists, unlimited bands is the reason to upgrade — each artist gets their own band to keep catalogs clean and separate.
Can I change my band's name or profile image after creating it?
Yes. Open your band page from the top navigation, click the settings icon next to your band name, then upload a new profile image or edit the band name in the settings panel and save.
Do I have to invite my band members right away?
No — inviting your team is optional at setup. You can invite bandmates, techs, and managers by email any time from the Members section in band settings.
What can I control about what each band member is allowed to do?
When you invite someone to a band, you set exactly what they can do: view only, download files, create setlists, manage arrangements, edit songs, or manage members. Account admins always have full access.
What's next
Your band is set up. Now put music in it:
- Click Add Song and give it a title.
- Pliris automatically creates the song's first arrangement.
- Open that arrangement and upload your stems — with Analyze on Upload enabled so Pliris extracts key, tempo, time signature, lyrics, chords, and sections for you.
For the whole path from here to a running show, read Your First Five Minutes with Pliris. To understand exactly how songs, arrangements, and setlists stack up, see Bands, Songs, Arrangements, and Setlists. And to learn how analysis works before your first upload, read Analysis Credits Explained.
