Old Stems Play but Won't Download as WAV

Stems uploaded before March 2025 may only have MP3 versions — re-upload the original WAV to restore full-quality export.

If a stem plays fine in Pliris™ but Download / export won't give you a WAV, you're probably looking at a legacy upload.

Stems uploaded before March 2025 were often stored for in-app playback as MP3 only. Newer uploads keep the original WAV for export and use an MP3 (or similar) for smooth playback in the browser.

Fix it

  1. Find the original WAV (or AIFF) on disk.
  2. Open the arrangement.
  3. Re-upload that file with the same stem name so it replaces the old one.
  4. Wait for processing to finish, then try the WAV download / Ableton export again.

You don't need to rebuild the whole song — just replace the stems that are missing full-quality originals.

Still stuck?

If re-upload finishes and WAV download is still missing, tell support the song name, band, and stem name — we'll check storage for that arrangement.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my stem play in Pliris but won't download as WAV?

Stems uploaded before March 2025 were often stored as MP3 for playback only — re-upload the original WAV with the same stem name to restore full-quality download and export.

Do I need to rebuild the whole song to get WAV downloads back?

No — re-upload only the stems missing originals; processing replaces those tracks and leaves the rest of the arrangement alone.

What should I tell support if WAV download is still missing after re-upload?

Send the song name, band, and stem name so we can check storage for that arrangement.
